All three articles are centered around The Running of the Brides and that's where the pure commonality ends. The ten tips article mentions wearing brightly colored hats and my picture article also mentioned that. There are certain aspects during The Running of the Brides that are mentioned in all three articles: having to change right there on the floor, having to get there early, and things like that. These are the crazy antics that make The Running of the Brides what it is and they are the most common subjects to talk about. I mean, people know The Running of teh Brides is where hundres of brides line up really freakin' early outside of Filene's Basement to bombard the doors at 8 am to grab as many dresses as they want or need before trying them all on. So yes, these are the things that have them the same the understood aspects of The Running of the Brides, which is a trademarked name btw...just wanted to let you know how serious the event was. Also, two of the three articles employ humor, albeit sarcastic at times, to get points across.

The differences are a bit easier to point out because all three of the articles are different kinds of articles. The first article is comprised of 43 pictures which tells a person a lot about the event because for those people who haven't been able to witness the event for themselves, they can see in bright color what happens during the event. There are side comments for all of the photos, the journalist making witty comments as he sees fit, but the eyes are mostly drawn to the photos and the reality they portray of teh event. The second article is a short written piece that makes strong use of sarcastic humor in word choice, calling the brides screaming hordes amongst other things, as well as humanizing the women by giving names and jobs of the brides-to-be, that way people can identify with them a little bit more...a weird mix with the sarcastic humor, if I should say so myself. The third is a 10 Tips List, an article based on giving tips to women whou would venture in to Filene's Basement for The Running of teh Brides to get the dress they want. The author knows this is a stressful task and hopes that the 10 Tips will help eliminate some of the anxiety and pre-game stress that goes along with planning to go to Filene's as well as helping brides-to-be keep their wits about them during the process itself.

The Running of the Brides lives on strongly because women desire discounted wedding gowns. Wedding gowns are really important to women because women desire to get married. Women have wanted to get married since they were really young therefore they want to have the best dress they can get. The economic times are pretty crappy at this moment in time so discounted designer wedding dresses are a blessing. Designer wedding gowns are desired by many women who cannot really afford them therefore discounted designer wedding gowns are highly sought after. There are very few designer gowns on sale that will fit so many women so the brides-to-be will fight for every gown that they can. Filene's Basement event is only two times a year so hundreds of women line up each time. Supplies are limited so women make strategies to get the wedding gown they want.

Weddings are a billion dollar marketing event that makes people hundres, if not thousands of dollars each year. Designers have entire wedding gown lines that they create, if not that's their only line. Vera Wang started out just designing wedding gowns really and that's what she's mainly known for. Weddings have been made to be so important in America that girls dream about them from when they were really young, there are several t.v. shows about them, as well as bridal symposiums. The Running of teh Brides is just one of the events that shows how crazy and big weddings have become in America. These designer gowns are extremely discounted, nothing is over 700 dollars but can you think about that? This dress that a bride is going to wear ONCE in her life, 700 dollars. I'd never pay 700 dollars for a formal gown but I get so excited thinking that I could possibly snag a Vera Wang for 700 dollars to wear on my wedding day. Weddings are almost vital to living in America, its a part of the American dream. Not so much a long and happy marriage but weddings have become the big thing...people are more fascinated with getting married, having big weddings, and then going through counceling later.
